Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh: Past, Present, Future

In September 1980, the first director of the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh was appointed. Over the course of our 40 year history, the Center has put on hundreds of community programs, produced several original film and literary publications, and connected hundreds of thousands of people in our region with Holocaust survivors and their stories.

As we continue to host exclusively digital programs for the foreseeable future, we look forward to spending the 2020-2021 programming year honoring this important anniversary by rolling out an array of digital resources that makes the work our organization has undertaken over its history more accessible than ever before.

The digital rollout schedule includes:

  • Archive of all press coverage from late 1970s-today (October 2020)
  • Photo album of programs past and present (Nov 2020)
  • CHUTZ-POW! Vols I-III available digitally (Dec 2020)
  • An exhibit covering the history of the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh, from its inception to future plans (Jan 2021)
  • “Time Capsule” featuring excerpts from founding documents and programming over our 40-year history (Jan 2021)
  • Artwork and themes from all previous Yom HaShoah programs (Feb 2021) coinciding with announcement of this year’s Yom HaShoah program theme
  • Digital exhibit of selected winners from previous Waldman Arts and Writing award competition (Apr 2021) coinciding with the reveal of this year’s award winners + their work
  • Digitization of several publications previously only available in hard copy (May 2021)
  • All existing video testimony on our YouTube channel (June 2021)

Please be sure to stay up-to-date on our digital event schedule. We look forward to seeing you online soon!

The community’s support is what has made the past forty years possible, and we continue to rely on you as we embark on the next forty years–and more!
