Michelle Ultmann

Michelle’s Presentation

Michelle Ultmann is the daughter of two survivors – her mother from Germany, and her father from Austria – and she shares the story of her mother, Ruth (z”l). Ruth was a young teen when she experienced Kristallnacht in her hometown. Following the November pogrom, Ruth was sent to England for the remainder of the war, via the Kindertransport. She eventually settled in the Chicago area, where she studied to become a nurse, married, and raised a family.

About Michelle

Michelle worked as a pediatrician for many years. She was the Holocaust Center’s Volunteer of the Year in 2025. Trained by Toastmasters, Michelle’s presentation includes photographs of her mother as she tells her family story in an engaging, lively way.
