Dr. Ray Naar (z”l)
October 15, 1927 – February 2, 2023
Ray Naar was born on October 15th, 1927, in Salonika, Greece. Ray and his family were captured and sent to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in the south of Germany. Following the war Naar’s family moved to the United States where Ray enlisted in the American military. Stationed abroad he would use his language skills to negotiate the release of American soldiers overseas. While stationed in France he met his wife Claudine with whom he had two children. Following his military service Ray got his undergraduate degree in psychology and earned his PhD. in clinical psychology. Dr. Naar taught undergraduate psychology classes at Carlow University, the University of Pittsburgh, Chatham University, and medical school students at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. On February 2nd, 2023, Dr. Ray Naar passed away.
