Josiah Gilliam (nominated by Laura Cherner, Director of Community Relations of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh) is being honored for his dedicated allyship to the Jewish community. He is a founding member of the 412 Black Jewish Collaborative, joining the Jewish Federation’s Civil Rights Mission in 2023, and showing up for the Jewish community in times of crisis and celebration.
Righteous Among the Neighbors is a project of the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh that honors non-Jewish Pittsburghers who support the Jewish community and take action to uproot antisemitism. Josiah Gilliam is an honoree in the class of 2024.
In partnership with the LIGHT Education Initiative and Mt. Lebanon High School, student journalists have once again interviewed honorees and wrote article-length profiles about their efforts. This year, the articles will each be published in the Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle!
