The Holocaust Education Patch Program is designed so that Girl Scouts and other participants can take part no matter where they are located! Voices of Hope is partnering with the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh to support troops and other groups working to earn the patch in Connecticut.

Inspired by the vision of Alan Lazowski and established by the families of Holocaust survivors across Connecticut, Voices of Hope’s bold mission is to promote a culture of courage to stand up against hatred through Holocaust and genocide education and remembrance. Voices of Hope is a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization.

Voices of Hope offers the following opportunities that can be used to fulfill certain program components:

Connect Activities

Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts (and other participants grade nine through adult) must complete one Connect activity in addition to Connect cards. Voices of Hope offers the following opportunities to fulfill this requirement:

  • You can bring a Voices of Hope speaker to present to your troop or other group. Learn more here.
  • Voices of Hope can provide funds (bussing, tickets) to visit an appropriate Holocaust exhibit.
  • You can explore survivor testimony through Connecticut Remembers the Holocaust, a joint initiative of Voices of Hope and the University of Connecticut that introduces visitors to first-hand history of the Holocaust through the experiences of child survivors who settled in Connecticut, rebuilding their lives in America after the trauma of World War II.

Take Action Activities

All participants must complete one Take Action activity. Voices of Hope offers the following opportunities to fulfill this requirement:

  • Participants can volunteer at Voices of Hope. Volunteer opportunities include helping to create curriculum/artifact trunks; becoming an Ambassador and speaking to students about the relevancy of the Holocaust; joining Voices of Hope’s Holocaust and Genocide Education Advisory Committee; and more.
  • You can organize for a Voices of Hope speaker to present to a larger group (e.g. at school, to a public audience a local library, etc).
  • Voices of Hope can help you create a public educational display.
