2019 Summer Teachers’ Institute

Teachers from grades 6 through 12, in Social Studies and English Language Arts, are invited to apply for the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh’s Summer Teachers’ Institute.

For the first time, we will offer two levels; with both levels, we are excited to offer lodging options for those who need it. This year, we are also having teachers apply for admission before registering. Applications are reviewed and applicants notified within two weeks of submitting whether they have been accepted to the Institute.

Act 48 credit is available. Each day breakfast will be provided; an hour break will be provided to buy your own lunch off-site or brown-bag.

Advanced Institute

July 15-19, 2019
For teachers with 5 or more years experience teaching the Holocaust.
$200, or $400 with hotel lodging.Join in-service teachers and educators from the Holocaust Center and the University of Pittsburgh, along with guests from Penn State University, the University of South Carolina, and Troy University, as we consider the Holocaust through a local lens.APPLY NOW

Introductory Institute

July 29-31, 2019
For teachers with less than 5 years experience teaching the Holocaust.
$150, or $300 with hotel lodging.Consider the evidence for the impact of Holocaust education and develop your educational rationale while learning about PA State resources and Holocaust Center resources that you can implement in your classroom immediately. Interact with award-winning Holocaust educators to build confidence and depth of knowledge about teaching the Holocaust.APPLY NOW
